London Maternity Portrait Photography – Sarah’s Battersea Park Maternity Shoot

At the time of writing this, Sarah has given birth to a beautiful baby girl called Genevieve. I want to send the biggest congratulations and I am so glad we got a chance to do your London Maternity Photography session and you received the images in time before your wonderful bundle of joy enter the world xxx

London Maternity Photography Shoot at Battersea Park with Sarah

It was such a pleasure to photograph Sarah for her London Maternity Photography session on a beautiful sunny day in Battersea Park South West London. With the River Thames running past the park with views of Chelsea Bridge to the East and Albert Bridge to the West, it is such a picturesque place to have a Photo Shoot.

Sarah got in contact with me when she was 38 weeks, so it was literally a couple of weeks before her baby girl was due. We decided to meet by the Peace Pagoda next to the River, on a gorgeous summer day in May, where we could get stunning shots of Chelsea Embankment and the Bridges as backdrops. Also, the Peace Pagoda is such an iconic place in Battersea Park alongside the Zoo and bandstand that we had to get images with Sarah there.

The morning was gorgeous; the sun was shining with a cool breeze and it was just a perfect peaceful day for a London Maternity Photography session. We started out taking portraits next to the River changing the view from Chelsea Bridge, Albert Bridge and Chelsea Embankment. We then move a small garden with the Peace Pagoda in the background, before then moving to the Peace Pagoda itself.

We chatted quite a lot through the session, finding out that she had two other girls, move from USA 8 years ago with her husband and, also was in the middle of moving house!

We moved the session towards the centre of Battersea Park taking in the long grass and some of the other beauties in the park including Russell Page Garden.

After a quick outfit change we went to the famous Bandstand for a few iconic images and then finally ending the session next to the Fountains (which decided to stop when we wanted them in the background)

It was such a pleasurable photoshoot and look forward to doing more of these sessions in the future.

Below is some of my favourite images from Sarah’s London Maternity Photography session.

New York City Travel Photography – Jay Anderson Photography Travel

New York City Travel Photography from Jay Anderson Photography

I was never one to make Bucket Lists, when I think of Bucket Lists it always reminds me of the film starring Jack Nicholson & Morgan Freedman. Being old, twilight of your life and thinking of stuff you want to do and see before you die. But I decided, actually, there is no shame in doing them. On my personal list was to visit New York and on the photography list was New York City Travel Photography.

For the last two years, I have been thinking about what I would like to do and get before I turn the big 40. After going full-time with my photography business and turning what was just a passion into my main and only source of income. The next thing was I wanted to go on a big trip somewhere. I pondered on a few places including Jamaica, Australia, Hong Kong, & Los Angeles to name a few. But it always came back to my desire to visit New York.

I had visited New York with my Mum once before to meet my Granddad over 25 years ago. I was only fourteen and at that age, all I was interested in was getting the newest computer games, going to the arcades in Times Square and getting the latest Hip-hop or Reggae mix tapes from Harlem & Jamaica Ave to show off to my friends back in the UK. I wasn’t interested in seeing the Empire State Building or walking up and down 5th Avenue going into Tiffany’s and other Luxury stores like my Mum wanted to do. I did do some Tourist stuff like go up the World Trade Centre and see a baseball game at Yankee Stadium, but as for the other stuff New York is famous for, wasn’t that interested.

So for the last couple of years, my thoughts has turn to visiting the Big Apple and doing the big tourist stuff like walking through Central Park and taking a ferry over to the Statue of Liberty. There was also another big reason for me to visit New York City, my oldest friend, who I have known since we were babies and had been inseparable for the first 20 years of our lives, had move to the States over 12 years ago. First of all to Atlanta and then finally in New York where he runs a very successful clothing brand. So with all of this in mind, New York was the only choice.

Over the months preceding, I started to plan the trip and also discussed them with my new American pals (The MRTS team and friends) that I met at Sophie & Will’s Ireland Wedding. It started to turn into a mini American tour. It would start in New York to visit Wayne, Jo (and then Kylee who I met later on), then fly down to either North & South Carolina depending where Amaris was staying at the time and finally to Salt Lake City, Utah to see the ever smiling Chad (Chadwick when in Europe). With all these plans I knew it would be epic, but costly both in time and finance. So I had to cut back. Sorry Chad, but next time you are top of the list, I promise we will do the whole Salt Lake City to Nevada road trip like we planned.

The plans were coming together very well and to top it all off, I was not only going to visit Amaris in Raleigh, North Carolina I was going to photograph a wedding with her. More of that to come very soon. This was planning to be the trip of a lifetime as I always thought it would be all those years ago.

My plans were to land and stay in New York for two days, fly down to North Carolina for another two days and then back up to NYC for the last three days of my trip. Plenty of time to see, visit and explore everything on my list.

And I did try to do everything on my list, my first day was full, packed with jumping on and off subway trains, walking up and down avenues and across streets. Seeing the majority of all tourist sites like Metropolitan Museum of Art, Central Park, 5th Avenue, Empire State Building etc. The rest of my time in NYC was about seeing the other sites but mostly seeing my friends.

I didn’t get the chance to see and do everything on my list including meeting up with Jo in Hells Kitchen. Reasons why was mainly down to Wayne who was suppose to take me to a bar for one hour and it turning into an all nighter and so losing all of that evening and then the next day due to a massive hangover. But I am happy I didn’t get a chance to do everything, it gives me an excuse to go back very soon to see the other half of the exciting city.

Words cannot describe what this trip meant to me, something that will etch in my mind for ever more. Just have to thank everyone that made this trip happen you are all stars.

So here are the images you have been waiting for

Stowe House Wedding Photography – Buckinghamshire Wedding Photographer

Stowe House Wedding Photography – Lucy & Scott’s Buckinghamshire Wedding

It is such a pleasure to write a blog about Lucy’s & Scott’s Stowe House Wedding today. Set in the countryside of Buckinghamshire, the prestige and Luxury Country House shares the ground with the Public school of the same name.

With beautiful acres of historical land, it is such a magnificent setting for weddings, and was fitting for Lucy & Scott’s elegant wedding.

My day started with Lucy and her bridesmaids at a nearby hotel with Scott and his groomsmen making their way to Stowe House Estate from home. It was a lovely morning and with Lucy looking stunning in her dress, the rain decided to stop and the sun starting to shine, we all agreed that the day was going to be special.

The ceremony was held in The Grand Marble room with its awe-inspiring ceiling and striking columns, this room encapsulates romance and opulence. The room was decorated elegantly and with a small string quartet playing for Lucy’s entrance, it was so romantic.

Once the ceremony was over, the guest and wedding party move out on to the lawn at the back of the house, whilst myself and the couple went off to photograph around the stunning grounds of Stowe House. When we got back, we move into the Music Room for the wedding breakfast and the speeches. The night ended with dancing and drinks in The Blue Room.

The day was truly special and amazing; surrounding by family and friends, Lucy & Scott wedding was a great occasion and to the top it off their firework surprise that lit the Buckinghamshire sky at the end of the night was spectacular.

I will let the images from the day, tell more of the story.

Thank you to Lucy & Scott for allowing me to document your day, it was truly a special day. Your family and friends made me feel very welcome all through the day.

Also a special thank you to the Stowe House events team and Stowe House as a whole.

London & Surrey Wedding Photography – New Fine Art Wedding Albums from Folio

London &  Surrey Wedding Photography – Contemporary Fine Art Wedding Albums

As a London & Surrey Wedding Photography business, one of the best things I love to do is create lasting memories. Memories that look and feel every time you take out a Fine Art album from it packaging.

A few weeks ago, I finally got delivery of my new sample albums from Folio. Folio make the finest Fine Art albums right here in the UK and are handcrafted at each stage of the process. Now, I have been toying with the idea of finding new wedding album suppliers for a few months and once the final wedding of 2016 was finished I decided it was time to invest in new samples and go with the popular company Folio. As a Fine Art Wedding supplier in London & Surrey, I wanted someone whose style fitted  into my brand and knew how important an investment of a wedding album is to a couple.

When I am speaking to couples about Fine Art Wedding Albums, I always explain the comparison between images on your screen to having them on print, and in my opinion their isn’t any. It is great having the ability to share with family and friends with a touch of a button on a computer, but seeing your images on fine paper in a leather or linen bound album is so magical and a special feeling.

Have a look at my recent video on my new wedding sample albums and if you would like to discuss more about ordering an album, then please contact me.

Marrakech Morocco Wedding – Kristina & Tony’s La Palais Paysan Fine Art Wedding

Kristina & Tony’s La Palais Paysan Marrakech Morocco Wedding

“Hi Jay, you know the Marrakech Morocco Wedding I was talking about, how do you fancy shooting it with me?” This was the silly question I was asked by my good friend and partner in crime, Anesta Broad (sorry Anesta).

For me, this was a no-brainer. I have been to Marrakech before on holiday and fell in love with it straight away, so to be asked to do my job in this incredible place, I had to accept straight away.

Kristina & Tony’s Wedding was held in a remote location just outside Marrakech; the stunning La Palais Paysan Hotel, with the Atlas Mountains as a backdrop, was 5 star beauty with all the trimmings and with Morocco Wedding planning company La Boutique Souk helping to create their dream wedding, it was set up to be an amazing weekend.

With close family & friends, who travelled from Essex and the Caribbean, the wedding was a beautiful affair. The wedding ceremony was held on the lawn outside in the late afternoon sun, then the reception moved to a poolside set-up before they partied late into the night. The party didn’t stop there with a Pool Party the next day with the beautiful weather making the hangovers not so bad.

I hate this cliché, but it was one of the best weddings I have had the pleasure to photograph. Thank you Anesta for the invite, it was great being your wingman again and can’t wait for another adventure soon. Thanks to Kristina & Tony, from the first minute I arrived – to the late night drinks the next day – you made me feel so welcome and part of the wedding which I will never forget.

Anyway, I will let the images tell the story of the day xxx

Cork Ireland Wedding Photography- Sophie & Will’s Ballnatray Estate Fine Art Wedding

Sophie & Will’s Ballnatray Estate, Cork Ireland Wedding

I’ve being thinking of words that best describe Sophie & Will’s Cork Ireland Wedding. But before I do that, I will begin with a massive thank you to Amaris & Chad who made up the #mrts team (I came up with that name). It was an amazing four days of shooting at Ballynatray Estate on the outskirts of Cork and Waterford in Ireland. The guests at the wedding were so surprised that we had never worked together and that the three of us literally lived thousand miles from each other. We just flowed; knew where each other were in terms of taking shots, trusted and knew that each person would capture everything that was special on the day.

But it was more than us three, it was about the Sophie & Will and the rest of the wedding party over those days. From Day 1 to the last day, it was all about making us feel welcome. It was all about sharing in the joyous occasion whilst doing our job, and that is why I always say that it is probably the best job in the world for me. I just love working with couples, families and friends like this.

So what about the wedding day? Well, it started early and ended very late!! But not for one minute did I mind. My day started with the Groom and his Groom’s men at the Wood Cottage, where it was a pleasantly chilled and relaxed time. I would like to say that was the theme of the day, but I would be lying. This was calm before the storm, and in a good way. We laughed, we cried, we laughed some more and just generally had an incredible time. And I am just talking about the wedding day.

I will let the images tell the rest of the story…

Ladybird’s Launch Party at Heist Bank

Ladybird’s Launch Party at Heist Bank Paddington Central

Ladybird’s Launch Party at Heist Bank (an amazing bar in Paddington) was such a great evening. As you know, I am full of praise for Emma Soulsby and have worked with her a few times, including shooting her lookbook a few months ago (blog post coming very soon). She is so talented and creates some of the most amazing arrangements for weddings and other events, so when Emma announced that she was opening a small store in the new development of Paddington Central, I knew I would have to shoot this new venture of hers.

Ladybird Flowers was taking her love of flowers and plants to another level and selling unique arrangements and potted plants that I have never seen in a conventional florist before. Sharing a space in the new bar; Heist Bank, the partnership between them just go together like Pizza-Beer-Flowers.

It was a wonderful night and want to congratulate Emma, Ladybird Flowers & Heist Bank on their new businesses and wish them every success in the future

Just a few images as promise from the wonderful night, but I would suggest that if you are ever in the area, I would definitely give it a visit. Have a beer or two, eat a pizza (the Smoked sausage, fried potatoes, sage, and chilli ones looks and smells amazing) and make sure you buy a flower or plant or both

London Fine Art Engagement Photography – Millie & Steven’s Proposal

I love a marriage proposal shoot, but this one involved an undercover mission to rival any!  This London Fine Art Engagement Photography shoot for Millie & Steven’s Proposal contained everything as if  it was from a romantic, and dramatic movie. But this was the real deal.

It all started when Steven got in touch on the day that he was going to propose with this creative plan about how and where he wanted to propose to the beautiful Millie.

Steven & Millie, who love to travel,  write a letter to each other whilst on their journey about their traveling experiences. So the plan was that Steven was going to write a letter about London, but with a twist. In this letter, Steven was going to ask Millie for her hand is marriage.

Fast forward to the evening of the special day; it started with Steven taking Millie out for dinner,  whilst I had the important assignment of picking up the extra special letter from their hotel. I was to place the letter on the steps of the statue of Eros in Piccadilly Circus, Central London. As legends go, it is said that if you propose under the statue on the stroke of midnight, it would bring you eternal luck in your marriage. So there I was at 11:30, in the pouring rain (and I mean it was pouring), setting myself up in the right position so that I wouldn’t be noticed by Millie taking pictures of her and also keeping an eye on the letter so that no one would accidentally pick it up.

Around 11:50, not knowing what Steven or Millie looked like, I noticed a couple approach the theatre next to the statue and pointing at it. I quickly understood that this was the couple, when they started to walk towards, and pointing at, the letter. I moved back into my “tourist taking pictures of the Billboards'” position and started shooting away, firstly capturing Millie reading the letter and then… Well, I will let my images tell the rest of the story.

Despite the pouring rain, which I think added to the drama, it was a moment not to be missed. To see Steven go down on one knee and the reaction of Millie was amazing. Congrats Millie & Steven, you make a wonderful couple xxx

Surrey Fine Art Wedding – Sophie & Lee’s Leatherhead & West Horsley Wedding

What was it about Sophie & Lee’s Surrey Fine Art wedding that made it one of the most special I have photographed? I believe it was that from the first time I spoke to Sophie, she was all about the photos. When a couple come to me and they talk about how important their photographs are and how much they want captured, I know that we are going to be a perfect fit.

After the initial chat to discuss their wedding ceremony at The Mansion in Leatherhead, Surrey, and then their reception at a converted barn in the village of West Horsley, Surrey, we met up at Newland Corner, just outside Guildford, Surrey for their Engagement Shoot which you can have a look at here. As you can see from the post, we hit it off straight away.

It was an early start at Sophie & Lee’s home in the lovely little village of Bramley, near Guildford, for bridal prep. It was a gorgeous morning and when I arrived to start documenting the day, I knew it was going to be a wonderful day. After the ceremony at The Mansion, Leatherhead, we moved to a quaint little pub, with its converted barn in the village of West Horsley, Surrey for their reception. I can truly say I had a great time, everyone was full of laughter, happiness and genuine love for the special couple. From the reaction and review from the couple; and also their friends & family, I definitely captured  that and I believe you will see it also in the pictures below…

Enjoy

Fine Art & Contemporary Wedding Photography – My Lake District Trip

Beautiful scenery of The Lake District from my iPhone 6S

So a couple of weekends ago, if you don’t know, I made my first ever trip to The Lake District. I was there to photograph a wedding of Claire & JJ with one of the most talented wedding photographer of his generation, Alex Beckett of Alex Beckett Photography. If you haven’t checked his work out yet, make sure you do after looking at mine 😉

Anyway, enough about Alex, back to my trip to gorgeous county of Cumbria.

I cannot speak enough about how amazing this part of the country is;  the stunning rolling hills, the beautiful lakes and the peaceful way of life was just breathtaking and something I hope my personal and work life will take me back in the near future.

I thought I would share some of my images I took on my phone of the scenery and hopefully I will share some of my images from the wedding.

Enjoy
